Generation Y, piracy and the future of the music industry

I am part of the generation that was raised on Napster and where buying music was a considered a novelty.

Where is the music industry going in the future and how will they find a way to bring back the lost pirates of generation Y?

Already we have seen the upsurgence of “Myspace bands” that have gained the attention of fans and the record labels with grassroots level social music discovery. Services such as Last.fm and Pandora have fueled consumers needs to discover new music and will continue to play a part in the future.
