In: Student Life| social media

Technology is changing the way we find information. Not only is the way we find information changing but there is also a shift in the way we communicate and represent our public persona and brand.

There is the perception that the young people that grew up on Facebook and MySpace, ‘get’ social media. However in reality I have found that though we are using the tools, few are conscious of the impact, consequences and even opportunity that stems from technology at our disposal.

In my presentation at Podcamp I addressed why student students need to be conscious of the digital trail they are leaving online, how to effectively leverage their online brand and how active engagement in social media can benefit students and ambitious young people.
