No longer just for Britney Spears Fans – Directory of Top Execs on Twitter

It seems that the top 100 users on twitter has quickly become a list of celebrities that have ridiculed my claim that twitter is a place for thought communities. I still have faith and if anything I have become more impressed with the high level connections I have been making in the last few weeks as we are seeing mass entry of the mainstream.

To bridge the gap in identifying those voices. Microsoft and the Federated Media have teamed up to create ExecTweets, a resource to help you identify the top executives from companies such as Coca-Cola, Best Buy, Microsoft and Unilever.

Here is a few of the people they have identified on Twitter:

Adam Brown, Coca-Cola
Allen Weiss, MarketingProfs
Barry Judge, BestBuy
Bart Cas, Pepsi-Cola
Billy Sanez, American Airlines
Bob Livingston, Unilever
Bunny Ellerin, Interbrand Health

Chris Barger, GM
Craig Newmark, Craigslist
Daniel Rasumus, Microsoft
Dave Knox, P&G
Georgy Colony, Forrester Research
Joi Ito, Creative Commons
Warren L. Habib, MTV
Werner Vogels, Amazon.com

Wes Spears, The Weston Group

I still argue that with a concerted effort you can really build up a network of people that you can learn from and increase your knowledge and even make high level professional connections.

We might see the top 100 users becoming fickle celebrities but the real people that are benefiting are those that are building thought communities by connecting with intelligent leaders.

Who are you following on Twitter?

It's cool and sucks how the celebs have taken over. But the great thing about twitter is you don't have to listen if you don't want to! So if you stay in your niche and stay involved with the right people there are plenty of great convos to get into. And from a business standpoint following these execs definitely provides some cool insights.
