The First Signs from the Facebook, Friendfeed Aquisition – Twitter Intergration

In: Social Web

For those of you that haven’t experimented with the newly aquired Friendfeed, you only have to look as far as the new Facebook Page Twitter integration to see the value in Facebook’s new investment.

Facebook have attempted to make companies more likely to use Facebook as the platform of choice by making it easier to post to both Twitter and the Page from Facebook.com.

They have nabbed some of the know how from the FriendFeed guys who have managed to develop smooth integration with several platforms.

Now page administrators can simultaneously post status updates, photos, links, notes and events to both Facebook Pages and Twitter.

For anyone managing an integrated social media campaign this is a great added feature, to test the waters and extend the reach and engagement in both Facebook and Twitter.

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.

Hey Dan!

Hate to be the nitpicky type, though I feel this is important enough to mention: according to Facebook's blog post about the Facebook/Twitter integration, the feature has been in the works since earlier this summer, being developed by a Facebook-hired engineering intern.

That said, this is indeed a great way for Facebook to steer brand attention back toward itself as the publishing platform of choice, and there's sure to be some killer additions to its services from the Friendfeed team.

I think you might just be right on that one Aidan, however the Facebook and Friendfeed boys have been chatting for a while and I wouldn't be surprised if they dipped their toes in.

If anything, it is display of why Facebook brought in Friendfeed and where they plan to go in the future in terms of native integration.

Personally I think it makes Facebook far more attractive as a platform and with the Facebook 3.0 iPhone App coming out with the ability to post to Pages, it could really make the Facebook Page the hub of the social media presence.
